What welding processes can I use with the lens?

These lenses can work with all welding processes, and since they are adjustable, they can be used for almost any amperage range as well.

How do I recharge the lens?

The lens has a built in solar panel that recharges the batteries as you weld (Welding recharges the batteries, not the sun)

But the batteries don't last forever, they usually last 6-12 months (there's an indicator light on the lens, that warns you before the batteries die).  The lens takes 2 CR1025 batteries, and they are very cheap.  A pack of 25 on Amazon is $10.

Have More Questions?

How fast / expensive is shipping?

All orders come with FAST + FREE Shipping.

Most orders ship the same / next business day, and arrive after 3-5 days.

*note, if you order a hood with your lens, you will need to specifically request the lens ships separately, or else the lens will ship with your hood.  The hoods ship out slower.

How do you adjust the lens?

On the back of the lens there are 3 knobs.  They adjust the sensitivity, delay, and shade.  More on what those mean here:

Sensitivity: Adjusting sensitivity just adjusts how sensitive the lens is to light.  Having it on a high sensitivity makes the lens darken with less light / lighter welding amperages.

Delay: Delay adjusts how long the lens stays dark AFTER you finish welding.  It adjusts from 0.2 to 2 seconds of darkness.  The main reason this is in place is to reduce flashing (if it stays dark longer, theres less chance it will accidentally flash you), and also for when your welding heavy.  If you have a very hot weld, when you finish welding the metal will still be very bright, which can still be hard on the eyes.

Shade: The shade adjusts how dark the lens is.  Shades are standardized, and this lens adjusts from 5-13.  Shade 5 is about what you need to do plasma cutting, and shade 13 is dark enough to weld extremely heavy duty flux core, without hurting your eyes.  Makes the lens perfect for almost any welding process / work.

Is the lens automatic?

Yes!

The lenses darken automatically, so that you can see what you're doing before you strike your arc.  No more arc strikes!

Plus the darken in a 25,000'th of a second, so theres no worry that you will damage your eyes!

Here's an example of it darkening automatically:

Does the lens require batteries?

Yes and no.

The lens has solar panels built in, so it will automatically charge the batteries, while you weld.  (Just welding will recharge it, you don't need to put it in the sun)

What happens if the lens stops working?

All Ridge Product's welding lenses come with a full 1 year warranty that protects against defects, like flashing / being broken in the mail.

There is also an option to upgrade the warranty, to include full accident protection for a year.  So if anything happens to the lens in that year, you get a free replacement, no questions asked (like apple care)

How big is the lens?

The lens is 4.25" x 2" x 0.33"

So it will fit any and all pipeliner / sugar scoop / pancake / flip up hoods.

The only exceptions are the Tigerhood and some Ourlaw Leather hoods.  The Tigerhood + some Outlaw Leather hoods have very small side slots, which the lens won't fit into, but it's easy to file open the side slot.  It takes about a minute, and doesn't make the hood unsafe or risk your lens falling out.
