The Throne 1.0 has a lot of great features that make it a great choice for serious welders, including:
- Fits Any Lens Thickness: At Ridge, we make our welding hoods to fit any lens thickness. No matter what you’re using, it’ll go in without a problem.
- Durable Fiberglass Build: We make all variations of the Throne 1.0 with fiberglass. That makes them extremely durable, fire-resistant, and lightweight, so you get strength without extra weight.
- One-Year Warranty: We provide a full-year warranty for each welding hood to cover you against quality issues.
- True Color Technology: The True Color technology in our Ridge Products Adjustable Gold Welding Lens makes it possible for you to see your work clearly. It's the same as seeing your HD weld drip. This clarity keeps your eyes from getting tired and strained, which is especially helpful when you work long hours.
- Built-in Safety and Strength: We make the hood with strong materials that can handle the rough conditions of a welding site. The shape of our welding hoods also keeps sparks and other debris from getting in your eyes and face.
- Works with All Welding Methods: That's right! Our welding hoods are ready for stick welding (SMAW), MIG welding (GMAW), or flux-cored arc welding (FCAW). You can also use it for plasma cutting. Even though it works with Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), please note that flashing might happen if you use electricity below 90 amps. A King 2.0 lens is the best way to do low-amperage TIG work.
- Stays in Place: You can see clearly without taking off your whole helmet when you need to check your work, grind, or just talk to a friend. A simple flip-up allows you to work without hassle.
Please Note! The Throne 1.0 does not fit cheater lenses. Cheater lenses are like magnifying glasses that welders add to see better, but this hood isn’t built for them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Makes Pipeliner Welding Hoods Different from Regular Welding Helmets?
Welder caps for pipelines are a lot smaller and lighter than regular helmets. They're made for welders who have to work in small or odd areas and need a hood that won't get in the way. Pipeliner hoods are popular among pipe and structure welders because they last a long time.
Are Flip-Up Welding Hoods Better Than Helmets with Set Shades?
You can have the best of both worlds with a flip-up cap. For instance, you can tack and grind with a flip-up on without taking off your whole helmet. This saves a lot of time and is more comfortable than having to raise and lower a fixed-shade hat all the time.
Can I TIG Weld Under this Hood?
Yes, you can use TIG welding with The Throne 1.0. However, if you want to do TIG welding with less than 90 amps, you should use a special TIG lens like the King 2.0. This will help keep the puddle from shining and give you a better view of those fine TIG welds.
Can I Use Your Welding Hoods With a Lens That Automatically Darkens?
Of course! Many auto-darkening lenses on the market, as well as normal 2" x 4.25" welding lenses, can be used with the Throne 1.0. In other words, you can have the ease of an auto-darkening welding lens without giving up the standard look and usefulness of a pipeliner hood.
How Should I Take Care of My Welding Hood and Lens?
Your welding hood will stay in great shape if you clean it regularly with a soft cloth and a light cleaner. Pay extra attention to the viewing area. Make sure you get new, clear lens covers for your main welding lens to keep it from damage. To make sure it fits well, you can also look for signs of wear and tear on the headgear and hardware.
